November 8, 2007 -- I apologise for being so late in getting your growth model reading assignment to you, and for having a broken link to it on the Assignments page. It is working correctly now, as I patched a directory name that I had previously changed. The two readings from the book that Derek Ogle and I are writing come from Chapter 11 (in that version of the book). The hot-links from the "Assignments" page take you to pdf "excerpts" from the textbook manuscript as it was configured in September of this year. We have made some changes since that time, but the growth chapter is essentially unchanged now relative to the September, 2007, version. Because your pdf files are excerpts, the hot-links that you will see (color-coded red) as you read the chapter will not function to link you to the content that those links were built for. This means that you will be unable to skip around in the document to pursue questions that may arise while you are reading your assignment. To circumvent this problem, I have made the full text of our draft manuscript available to you, as an interactive pdf document. Feel free to peruse it in any way that is interesting to you, but, please note that Derek and I are trusting you to respect our intellectual property rights by not making the draft copy available to anyone outside of the students currently enrolled in our class. We will probably refer to other sections of the text later in the course, so just remember that it is accessible through the class website. When we do the unit on LaTeX (document processing in contrast to word processing), we will use the draft textbook as an example of the kind of power that the TeX/LaTeX software can provide for document preparation.

Thank you, again, for your forbearance in receiving this assignment so late.

September 19, 2007 -- Don't forget that tomorrow we meet in 224 Hodson Hall. This is a one-time-only arrangement as 326 Green was previously scheduled on this date.
