What are your thoughts on Bunn’s quotation on page 84 and the reaction Wisconsin officials had to his ruling?
What is unique about the Morrin case in 1908, and what happened because of its ruling? (85)
What were some of the ‘Dark Clouds’ that Satz discusses on page 85 and why were they significant? There are lot of court cases in this chapter. Anyone want to some one, or all, of them up? (easy discussion points…)
On the top of page 88 there is a story that was told by a member of the Nakomis Club. Does this story exemplify your thoughts about how the treaty rights were affecting the Indians or is it different?
What was the Indian New Deal and why was it overwhelmingly accepted? Did it actually help the Indians of Wisconsin? (88-89)
What hardships did the Great Depression add to the Indians?
What was the cold war, as described in this chapter, and why did the Indians deem it necessary to declare?
