Upcoming FWCB Course updates and Proposal deadlines & Departmental Faculty Deadlines

COURSE PROPOSAL RESOURCES
New courses need to be proposed a year in advance. Deadlines are listed on the calendar above. A new course will be checked for overlap with other offerings across the U campus - it is advisable to check for this before submitting your proposal.

The process begins with a conversation with the Department Head. You will need to provide a justification for the course, and a scenario for offering it as part of the FWCB program.

Other details to consider:

  • Course semester, days and times offered
  • Any pre-requisites
  • Credits issued
  • Will there be remote teaching?
  • Is there an experiential component (are fees involved)?
  • Is there a cross-linked course? (e.g., FW 3071/5071)
  • Is this a writing intensive or liberal arts credit course?

The syllabus is the primary document for a course proposal. Please use the syllabus template if you are creating one from scratch.

TOPICS COURSES
Topics courses are temporary and can only be offered twice before they are required to be formally proposed. They don't require a complete syllabus, and are assigned a pre-existing course number which is re-used as required for other topics courses as well.
