Research
My research program focuses on understanding and improving human decision
processes in the conservation and management of fish and wildlife. I am
particularly interested in understanding the social, political, and cultural
factors related to improving decision processes and the role that human
values and attitudes play in decisionmaking. I emphasize the use of theories
and methods from sociology and psychology but encourage students to take
an interdisciplinary research approach. I believe that both qualitative
and quantitative social research methods are essential for understanding
the human dimensions of wildlife conservation and management.
