Distribution of Eurasian watermilfoil (M. spicatum, Fig. 1) and Euhyrchiopsis lecontei (Fig 2.) in North America. The declines indicated on the maps are reported declines in watermilfoil for which the cause is unknown. These maps are modified from Creed (1998). Where Eurasian watermilfoil is absent, but E. lecontei is present, native watermilfoils such as northern watermilfoil (M. sibiricum) are present. A more current distribution of Eurasian watermilfoil may be found at the Non-Indiginous Aquatic Species site.
