Education

Adam Heathcote received his Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology from Iowa State University in 2013 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Group de recherche interuniversitaire en limnologie (GRIL) at the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Biography

Adam has been a researcher at the Science Museum of Minnesota’s St. Croix Watershed Research Station since 2015 and was promoted to Director in 2021. He oversees the Radiometric and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory at the Research Station and supervises a team of staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and technicians who work on a variety of research questions framed around human impacts on aquatic ecosystems. 

Research

His personal research focuses on how contemporary and paleolimnological techniques can help us better understand human-induced alterations to aquatic biogeochemical cycles and how they impact ecosystem function.
